Fear Dream Strangling

Hey Marsha, It’s Saraj.
(Readers, Saraj (not her real name) is a high school age girl who sends me dreams on occasion.)

Sorry for messaging you so late, but this dream is really eating at me lately.
It started off with me at work, and someone said there was an accident… and for whatever reason, I was freaking out trying to get ahold of my parents to make sure they were fine.  The weather was getting bad out and I was ready to leave.  I got ahold of my mom and she was going to get me, but I ended up on a school bus and basically felt like we were going in circles. Then we passed a bridge with only people on it.  The people were rocking the bridge, back and forth, and laughing and smiling. They were soon told to stop because it could collapse and it did. I only saw the girl on the end as she fell to her death.
Scene 2:  I then appeared at someone’s house and these people were trying to kill me and my family.  I stabbed one of the guys in the back of the neck and locked me and mom into a room and busted the window screaming for help. This little girl came with her mom, but her mom was saying “Stay Back”, so then I had to climb out of the window and tried to escape leaving mom behind, thinking she’d be okay.  Once I was out and about to run, I saw the same guy I had stabbed come around the corner and chase after me. I, then, found myself hiding in a camper and he had found me and got on top of me and started to strangle me.  Then I died.
Saraj
Hi Saraj,
I wanted to post this dream because it is a good teaching dream. A rule of thumb for dreams is to ask “Who is giving you this dream?”
·         Is it from your own mind, your desires, or your own fears?
·         Is it a dream brought on by drugs or something else your body has ingested?
·         Is it from God, telling you about yourself so that you may “understand the thoughts of your heart?” A dream about what you are doing, or going through. (Remember 90-98% of our dreams are about what we are dealing with and going through.)
·         Or is the dream another Word from God?  A calling dream? Or a healing dream? Etc.
·         Perhaps it’s a dream from God exposing a plan of the enemy?  A plan the enemy has to tear you down.  (Remember, plans of the enemy may be declared null and void if we pray against them, asking for God’s intervention. This is why the Lord reveals plans of the enemy. So it is no longer covert and can be dealt with successfully. Think military. If you know the enemy’s plans, a counter-defense can be set in motion. )
·         Or a prophetic word? A word about the future?
·         Or is the dream from the ENEMY, himself, to freeze you…to scare you. To get you to discount looking at your dreams?
A way to tell if a dream is from God is to look at the character and nature of God and compare it to the character and nature that the dream offers to you.  In this case, this dream is full of fear.
1.       Fear of accident.
2.       Fear of family being hurt.
3.       Fear of weather or outside, uncontrollable forces of nature.
4.       Fear of “going in circles” or not accomplishing anything.
5.       Fear of people being hurt through their ignorance, and through “rocking the bridge”.
6.       Fear of personal attack on the dreamer.
7.       Fear of personal attack on the dreamer’s family.
8.       Fear of one-on-one warfare against a willful hurtful person.
9.       Fear of not getting help.
10.   Fear of escape not happening.
11.    Fear of being found.
12.   Fear of death.
Wow!  I’m exhausted from all this.  Big time fear.
Now, what is the character and nature of our God?  The Bible says God does not wish to instill fear in His followers.
                “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will              help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41, verse 10. NKJV”
The enemy will give a dreamer a fear dream to get the dreamer off balance. To instill fear in hopes it will affect the dreamer’s decisions, or actions in an ungodly way.  This might be the enemy wanting to “kill you in a spiritual way” or to separate you from God!
Sometimes fear dreams are brought on by our own fears, by our own soul.
But either way, whether it came from the enemy or from the dreamer’s soul, this dream is not of God, therefore is FALSE.  Fear dreams should never be taken to heart.  Test the dream against the Word of God and against the character and nature of God.
Saraj, this dream is a Fear Dream.  So be proactive in ending reaction to this particular Fear Dream and others, by recognizing them, and renouncing them.  Fear not. The only one trying to kill you and your family is the same one who gave you this dream. The enemy may be trying to kill you spiritually.  But, the Lord is with you.
We all get fear dreams on occasion. The enemy loves to attack us this way.  But, if you keep getting them, I would suggest you get one-on-one Godly counsel with one who understands biblical dream interpretation, to help you deal with it.  Look at ways to combat this attack of the enemy.  Or look at why these fears are so prevalent in your life, thus might be brought on by your own soul.
God Bless You.  I (and your readers out there) will be praying for you Saraj. Contact me if you want some one-on-one talk.
Lord, I Pray that anything the enemy has planned against this dreamer be deemed Null and Void, in the name of Jesus.   I pray joy and a renewal of her personal relationship with you be intense and overflowing. I pray for your peace upon her, and sweet God dreams.

Snake Dream

Marsha
A friend of mine had this dream. Can you tell me what you think?
C.K.

Snake Dream:
I remember being in a kitchen at someone’s house.  There were several other people there – maybe 5 or 6 people in total.  I don’t remember knowing these people. I began to walk from the kitchen toward the back of the house. I don’t know where I was going or why. I walked through a short corridor and was passing through a bedroom (I think) when I saw a snake on the floor.  It appeared to be thick and brown-ish. I don’t remember any other details about the snake. I stopped short and turned back to the kitchen. I found my mom and told her about the snake. (In real life, my mom is always the person we would go to, to kill spiders, etc. because she isn’t bothered by doing so.) Previously, I didn’t know my mom was one of the people at this house. She, willingly, agreed to get rid of the snake. She walked back to the bedroom area where I had seen the snake and grabbed it by the tail. When she did so, the snake became elongated and began to lunge as she held the tail. Again, I retreated to the kitchen and sat on the kitchen counter with my legs hanging down. I was wearing a pair of men’s basketball shorts. My mom came into the kitchen, still wielding the snake, and it was still thrashing about and lunging aimlessly. However, the snake did make contact with my left leg, and bit my outer thigh through my basketball shorts. I don’t remember the bite hurting. I remember feeling startled and scare, but the snake let go of my leg and my mom was able to get rid of it somehow. Afterward, there was a pink mark on my leg where the snake had bit through my shorts. I remember asking my mom if she thought I needed medical treatment, but she wasn’t sure. I remember she was trying to look up online what kind of snake it may have been to determine if the bite was dangerous, or not. I don’t remember feeling pain in my leg or feeling worried about the bite. I didn’t end up seeking out medical treatment, but remember sitting in a large hot tub outside alone that had a red and white canopy over it. I remember thinking that maybe I was at a Kentucky Fried Chicken because of the red and white striped canopy over me while I was in the hot tub!

Hello C.K.., Marsha here.

                Thanks for sending in the dream.  This is full of good learning symbols. Let’s look at them.

Kitchen = place of preparing teachings (Neh 9:15, Prov 18:20)
Someone’s house = area of life for someone else (Prov 15:25)

Several other people there = others involved too, or at least around while this is happening

Walk toward the back of the house – seeking out what’s in the background

Short corridor = short period of transition

Snake – lies, a “long tale” (Rev 9:19, 12:9)

Floor – foundational issue

Thick – one upon another

Brownish – humanity in nature (not saying evil…just human) (Ezk 47:12)

My mom (who in real life is always the person we would go to – to kill spiders, etc. because she isn’t bothered by doing so) = other(s) who are helpful in dealing with issues

She willingly agreed to get rid of the snake – another person willingly trying to fight the lies (snake)

When she did so, the snake became elongated and began to lunge – when another person tried to help fight the lies (snake), the lies became longer and an attack on the dreamer.

I retreated to the kitchen – the dreamer retreats to a place of receiving teachings

Legs = ability to go forward (Ps 147:10, Prov 26:7, Hab 3:16)

Left = dreamer’s spiritual identity (Mt 24:40-41, 25:33, 25:41)

Pink mark = mark of faith (pink = faith)

Didn’t end up seeking out medical treatment = it became ok and didn’t need help dealing with it.

Hot tub = in “hot water” – in pressure and trials

Outside = feeling “outside” of things

Alone = feeling “alone”

Red = wisdom, power, anointing

White = purity, Holy

Kentucky Fried Chicken – Fast Food = place where being “fed” or taught things very fast; what you have learned (feeding on) is not especially healthy/good for you (fast food) – (food – teachings Neh 9:15, Prov 18:20)
Substituting these symbolic meanings into the dream, the dream interpretation might be as follows:

To the dreamer:
                While you (amidst others) are trying to minister to someone (in someone else’s area of life), you are able to see that person’s humanity issues (brown) and background lies (snake) they believe in.  These lies are compounded one upon another (thick). You seek help from others to try to deal with these lies and issues, but in the process you are attacked. This attack has affected your ability to go forward (leg) in your spiritual identity (left). You are able to get through it on your own (not receive medical attention) and come out of it with visibly more faith (pink mark). But you have found yourself in some pressure/trials (sitting in “hot water” hot tub) and have learned very quickly some things that aren’t particularly healthy for you (fast food). Still, you have a covering (canopy) of wisdom, power, and anointing (red) along with Holy and purity (white).

 Wow!  This dream means the dreamer has been going through some hard times, but has come out of it with more faith, and a little learning.  The dreamer is wise, powerful and anointed in purity and God’s holiness.
Please let me hear back from you.  I would be very interested to know what the dreamer thinks of this.

Marsha

To the readers: I also want to point out a couple of other teaching hints that are good in this dream.

1.       When you are interpreting a dream and the dreamer is given ambiguous numbers like: “maybe 5 or 6” — then that is a clue that the actual number is not important in the dream.  Don’t confuse the interpretation by trying to decipher what 5 means and 6 means and trying to put it together.

2.       When the dreamer attaches a statement to a person as she did in describing her mom, then often that statement is important in the interpretation process.  Not always…sometimes the dreamer is trying to justify why someone may show up in her dream.  But often.  In this case, the dreamer said, “I found my mom and told her about the snake. (In real life, my mom is always the person we would go to, to kill spiders, etc. because she isn’t bothered by doing so.)”  This statement is a good hint that “mom” in the dream may be about her ability to deal with nasty things…

FOLLOW – UP:   After the dreamer received the dream interpretation, I heard back from the dreamer and she stated that this dream was “right on.”  It explained some issues she’d been dealing with.  It greatly lifted her spirits and encouraged her.
YAY GOD!

Grace Adventure forgot shoes

Marsha,

In my dream I was going to attend another session of Grace Adventure. (Grace Adventure in real life is a retreat where you can go to do some intense interaction with God and others about issues in your life you are dealing with).  I showed up at the Grace Adventure at the appointed time, but I was not prepared.  I forgot my shoes. In fact I remember saying to someone there, I don’t have any kind of shoes, not even flip-flops.  I forgot my Bible.  I forgot my pajamas and was asking for a shirt from someone that I could wear as pajamas.  Then I woke up.

GA attendee

Hi GA… Marsha here,

I love and highly recommend Grace Adventure to anyone who wants to become a stronger person.  I’m glad you went.  Let’s look at the symbols in your dream:

Grace Adventure = could be symbolic for a ‘grace’ adventure or a new direction of adventure given to you by God’s grace

Shoes = peace “Ephesians 6:15 – put on your shoes of peace”

Bible = God’s word “Words given not by mankind but by God Col 2:17, 1Tim 1:7-10, 2Pet 1:20-21”

Pajamas = restful covering “sleep =rest Ps 127:2, 132:4” “clothing = covering Job 8:22, 29:14, Mt 22:10-13, 2Cor 5:2, Eph 6:11-17”

Inserting these meanings into your dream, I would say this dream says:

 You are showing up and going into an adventure the Lord has for you through His grace, but you are not bringing with you the things you really should be bringing.  The things you are not bringing with you are peace (in lots of areas), a restful covering or knowing the Lord is with you and being at rest about that.  You are also not bringing with you words given to you by God… In other words, you are not believing in your heart what the Lord has been telling you.

Just a little suggestion to the dreamer…I would try to stop, put your trust in God, and enjoy the adventure you are surely on.  For the Lord is with you.

Angry Young Woman

Dear Marsha,

I hope I’m not hogging your time…but I’m sending in another dream.  You’re interpretation was right on target last time.  Here’s the dream:

I went to visit a young woman in her house.  I knocked and called through the screen door and went on inside.  She was angry that I came on it.  She left the room and went to take a bath.  I went back to my car under the pretense to get something and waited for her to finish her bath.  I saw a lady named Fawn coming with someone else to visit this person.  I was grateful.  I got out of the car and went to meet Fawn.  Fawn was happy and laughing.

In real life I barely know this Fawn lady, and I don’t know who this young woman is (an unknown person).  I can’t figure out what’s going on.

Kay

Hi Kay, Marsha here!

In dreams, often a person is in the dream because their name means something.  It’s not about the person, or your relationship with the person.  So let’s look at this.

The symbols might represent:

Screen = filtering system
Bath = receive cleansing
Car = work, ministry
Fawn = name means” Young deer …Christian young but sure-footed in her walk with Christ
Deer – sure footed walk

So, for fun, let’s substitute the symbols into the dream.

I went to visit a young woman in her house.  I knocked and called through the filtering system and went on inside.  She was angry that I came on it.  She left the room and went to receive cleansing.  I went back to my ministry/work under the pretense to get something and waited for her to finish receiving cleansing.  I saw another Christian, young but sure-footed in her walk coming with someone else to visit this person.  I was grateful.  I got out of my ministry/work and went to meet the young sure-footed Christian.  The young sure-footed Christian was happy and laughing.

Okay, to look at just the meaning of the dream- I’d say:

You are trying to minister to a young woman but you do not have favor with her.  You have gone through the woman’s filtering system and pushed your way into her personal space.  It has upset her to the point she is feeling a need to cleanse herself.  There is someone else that has favor to speak to the young woman and that person may be young in Christ but is sure footed or has a good walk with the Lord.

Kay, I believe this is saying: sometimes we are not to step forward and try to help/minister to others because we don’t have their favor.  No matter our heart and good intentions, it just won’t work.  I believe you need to step back and pray instead. Maybe pray for some intercessory help sent from the Lord.

This is a good word for all of us.  I don’t believe the Lord has us speak into people without favor. Obviously from the dream your heart is right and you are trying to help. But, I believe the Lord is teaching you a different order of helping. By realizing a need, praying about it without trying to fix it.
From one “fixer ” to another….GOD BLESS YOU.

With an Old Love, Lamenting and Crying

Dear Marsha,

I had this dream on Thanksgiving morning. There were lots of family issues going on because of the holiday and this dream threw me for a loop amidst the chaos.  If you post it, please don’t use my name because I’m embarrassed about it.  But I would like to have your input.  Here are some background information about my real life that might help in understanding the dream.

The guy in my dream was a guy I only went out with once in my past.  It was many, many years ago, in high school.  I was always secretly in love with this guy back in high school, but we never really dated.  We liked each other as friends, but I think our shyness, and the timing, kept us from being together.  I’ve forgotten about him for the most part.  I’ve since married and have four children. He is also married with children and lives in a different state.  It’s rare (maybe once every two years) that I even think of him, and that’s always because of some reminder that triggered the thought. There’s been nothing recently to bring him to mind.  So out of the blue, I dreamed about him like this.  What is going on?

 Here’s the dream:

I was with my old love. Together, we were watching a big game of some sort.  I had a hoodie on, and he sat next to me with his arm around me, holding me close.  I started intensely telling him I wish we’d gotten together years ago.  I know he is sad for my sadness, and also a little that it didn’t work out for us, but he doesn’t know what to say.  I know he’s thinking of his wife and kids. I know this is the life that he has is the life he chose, and still wants.  I think of my own kids and husband, and know I’d not give them up, either.  I say, “But, I wouldn’t change anything now.”

I want to be perky and happy, so he’ll enjoy being with me.  Especially since I could tell I was making him uncomfortable.  But I start sobbing in grief and can’t stop.  I get up and go to the rest room to pull myself together.  When I come back, determined to keep a happy face, he’s gone.  I can’t find him.

I wake up.

L.L.

Hi L.L., Marsha here!

I won’t even use your real initials, but I’m glad you sent this in.  It’s a great one to look at.
I’ve prayed and believe this is not at all about this guy. Here are some reasons I believe this:

1.       I don’t believe this is a Soul Dream about you desiring this guy.  Remember, a Soul Dream is a dream created from your own Soul, which is your mind, will, and emotions.

a.       your Mind (the paradigm through which you view the world);

b.      your Will (your wants and ambitions);

c.       your Emotions (your love, fears, hurts).

I don’t believe this dream is a Soul dream about you desiring this guy because of the information you have given me of your past, and current situation.  You are NOT still thinking about him a lot.  You are NOT obsessing about him.  Instead, he was in the past.  If this were a Soul dream, there would most likely be some ongoing emotional issues you were having about this guy.

2.       Often, in dreams, a person will be in the dream because of the meaning of his name.  But, since the Lord placed it on your heart to describe the guy in the dream by relationship, not by name (in fact…you never even gave me his name} I believe this dream is not at all about his name.  If it were, the Lord would have placed in you a need to give me his name. The Holy Spirit has a way of putting in our recitations of dreams the part that is important.

Therefore, I believe the guy in the dream is representative of your relationship with him. And, unlike most healthy relationships, I believe the guy represents an unrequited relationship – or to rephrase that:  this is representing relationships that is not what you desire them to be.

Let’s look at the symbols:

Guy secretly in love with from the past – represents an old ‘love’ – probably not representative of a romantic love but of a great desire of your heart. The beloved relationship may be with a mother, father, sibling, (especially since the dream happened at Thanksgiving time – a time of family issues), or a friend.

Never got together with the love – an unrequited desire of your heart

Watching big game – in looking at life

Hoodie on – feelings have been hidden

Crying – grieving over it

He is sad for me and for us – the other person sees the distress in this relationship with you and is sad about it also

Interpretation:

I believe this dream is telling you that you are going through a time of looking at relationship(s) that are unrequited. I believe these may be family relationships, but not necessarily.  It’s saying, once again, you are falling back into a past pattern of grieving desired relationships that aren’t the way you want them. You know the way you want the relationship can’t happen because of circumstances and timing.  Still, you are unhealed and express this desire and pain so intensely that it has made it uncomfortable for those you want the relationship with, which causes that person, or them, to avoid you.  In other words, your reactions are making matters worse.

I love this dream, because I can relate to it myself, in my life circumstances.  We often find our need for love, or relationships embarrassing because we think it means we are not complete in ourselves, which is true. We are all designed by God to only be complete immersed in God’s love.

Why did God give you this dream?  I would suggest it might be to help you see an issue more clearly that you are struggling with.  Showing it in this oddly personal way can help us see it through different eyes.  Possibly God is helping you heal and face relational issues differently.

I would challenge you to ‘lay down’ expectations on whatever relationship issue you are dealing with.  Accept the relationship as it is, accepting that person for who they are, and accepting the limitations they have in relating to you.  Rethink – speaking to them in that intense way the dream portrays.  Accept them as they are. Try to stop grieving things that cannot be.  No longer lament over them.  Read Ps 36 and Ps 23.  Fill relational voids in your life by understanding the depth of God’s love for you.

Heavy stuff.  I’ll be praying for you.
Marsha

 Readers:  This reply was emailed to the dreamer prior to posting.  An immediate response from the dreamer was received as follows:

 Dear Marsha,

Thank you so much. I guess I should really say thank you to God for giving me this dream.  I know exactly what this is about. I have been struggling with some family relationship problems.  I now know that I have a responsibility to not insist they fix themselves, but rather to work on my own reaction to it. God bless you.

L.L.

Dear L.L.
I repeat, I can relate very much to this dream, as I’m sure most readers can.  I’ll be praying for you.

Snails, Turtle and Elephant in Pants

Sn

Dear Marsha,

A really weird disconcerting dream occurred last night.  I’m embarrassed to even tell this, but maybe you can tell me what it’s about. Brace yourself. Here is the dream:

Scene 1:  I looked down and noticed a snail stuck to the crotch of my jeans.  I pulled it off.

Scene 2: I reached inside my pants and pulled out globs of large snails…all stuck together.  I also pulled out a small live elephant (cute looking) and also pulled out a turtle.

I woke up.

It was gross.  I don’t know what to think.  What in the world is this about?

K.D.

 Hi K.D
I’m laughing.  Not at the dream, but at your response.  It’s funny to see our dreams through worldly eyes.  So, let’s lay down the world and look at the dream spiritually and metaphorically.

In this dream, the symbol meanings are based on the characteristicsof the symbols.  The meanings may be as follows:

Snail: carrying a burden; hiding self in fear

Crotch: reproductive area or productiveness
Pants: productiveness
Live: currently living
Elephant: big impact
Cute looking: appears attractive and harmless
Turtle: carrying a burden; hiding self in fear

So, just for fun…let’s substitute the meanings for the symbols in your dream:

Scene 1:  I looked down and noticed carrying a burden stuck to productiveness.  I pulled it off.
Scene 2: I reached inside my productivenessand pulled out globs of large burdens and hiding in fear…all stuck together.  I also pulled out currently living big impact (appears attractive and harmless) and also pulled out a burden; hiding self in fear.

Alright….it doesn’t seem so gross and funny now.  Reading this, we can get a good understanding of what the dream is about.  I would paraphrase the interpretation:

The dreamer’s productiveness is affected by two things: the burdens the dreamer is carrying and the dreamer’s tendency to hide in fear.  Even though these burdens appear to be good and attractive, they are making a big impact in the dreamer’s ability to be productive.

K.D., I’ll take my “interpreter” hat off and give you a friendly suggestion.  If you are struggling with being productive in some work, or ministry, then you need to lighten your load by getting rid of some burdens, even though these burdens you’ve taken on may appear to be “good” and attractive.

Blessings,
Marsha Trimble Dunstan

Trying on Powers

Hi Marsha!

My son (age 11) has recently had 3 dreams.  One of which he has had several times now.  I was wondering if you would mind helping me with interpretation.  I have been able to get thoughts on the first 2, but the 3rd one is puzzling.

 Dream #1

My son found himself in a room where he was given the ability to try “powers”.  He said that when he tried them the power was poured over him. My son first tried fire, but he did not feel like that power fit him.  The next power that he tried was water and he felt that “power” fit him much better.  He stated that the “power” that he felt led to try next was flying.  Then his dream ended.

Dream #2

In the next dream, my son found himself with a group of kids who had been given new “powers”.  He said that none of these people knew how to use their powers yet either.  My son kept trying to control his “water”, but it kept slipping out of his hand.  He then encounters a girl who is teaching my son how to use his power.  She first teaches him how to make a ball out of the water – showing him how to control it.  She then teaches him how to breathe under the water.  My son finds himself at great peace there- loves it- finds himself without fear.  The two of them are then encountered by an enemy.  The girl is able to use the water via her hand (Like a stream bouncing from the body of water to her hand then reflected out to the enemy) to push back the enemy until he disappears.  My son tries, but his stream is tiny.  My son is then reminded of breathing in the water and he goes under for a while breathing in the water.  When he comes up, he tries his power (his stream is thicker and he can control it better, but it is still not as strong as the girl’s).

Dream #3

My son is fighting in a ring and has a wooden sword.  He is fighting opponents and is winning.  He wins against many, many opponents, but then fights a kid from school (I asked my son what this kid represented and he said that the kid is a “cool kid, very popular, very good looking with many friends”.  The kid has a different sword.  Fashioned out of metal with a glowing green core and a handle that was almost molten in the kid’s hand.  My son wanted the kid’s sword.  He asked his father for the sword and his dad brought it to him.  When my son looked at the sword he saw black lines running through it and knew instantly that it was evil and he told his father “I cannot take it!”

The 3rd dream my son has had twice, about a 9 months to a year apart.  I am having the most difficulty with this dream.  I am feeling it may be significant as he has had it twice.  I believe the first two speak to his gifting and the Holy Spirit and perhaps an authority in that area.  “Breathing in the spirit referring to soaking in the Holy Spirit?  Walking in that?

               Would love to hear your thoughts.  They will be a great encouragement to him as I have been trying to teach them that they can hear from God even as children.

 J.O.

Hi J.O. Marsha here!

I love it when our kids get dreams.  It is such a perfect way to start sow into them (as you are already doing) by teaching them they can hear from God, even as children.

             Remind your son that Samuel was around 12 years old (according to the Jewish historian Josephus) when he heard the voice of God calling him.  God definitely reaches out to our youngsters.
            On this same note: there is a wonderful CD by Recie Saunders called “Dreams Children & the Night Season that is a guide to help parents deal with prophetically gifted children’s dreams.  I met Recie at a John Paul Jackson class years ago (I doubt he would remember).  He is extremely gifted.  The CD is pretty basic, designed to help parents understand and nurture their children’s dreams.  I believe you are already doing so with your son. But for those of you who want to get this, according to the back of the CD, it is available at www.itinerantministryteam.com.

                Now, let’s look at your son’s dreams.

Then his dream ended

I’ve pulled out a few symbols to look at:

Powers =Gifts of the spirit

Fire     = Gift of the God’s Word in the mouth that consumes (2Sam 22:9, Jer 23:29); evangelical          gifting

Water = Pastoral gifting.  Watering and cleansing the sheep (John 4:14, Ps 23:2, Lev 11:33, 1Sam 7:6, Ps 66:12, Mt 3:11)

Flying = Prophetic gifting of going high in the spirit [air] (Eph 2:2)

 Inserting a variation of the symbols, the dream might be saying:

My son found himself in a place where he was given the ability to try out different spiritual gifts.  He said that when he tried them the power was poured over him. My son first tried the fire of evangelical speaking, but he did not feel like that power fit him.  The next power that he tried was a pastoral gifting where he is watering and cleansing the Lord’s sheep/people and he felt that “power” fit him much better.  He stated that the “power” that he felt led to try next was the prophetic gifting of going high in spiritual things.  Then his dream ended

Wow!  I love it.
This dream closely follows the verse of Mt 13:11: The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you.  Whoever has, will be given more, and he will have an abundance.  Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.  Your son found that when he stepped into the gifting, more was given “the power was poured over him.”  This is awesome.
I believe this dream is saying your son has a pastoral and prophetic gifting that he is learning about and experimenting with.

Powers = spiritual giftings

Group of kids who had been given new powers = others who are immature in their giftings

Hand = works

A girl who is teaching my son how to use his power = someone who is teaching son how to use his          gifting (especially as it relates to the pastoral [water])

Make a ball out of the water = a tool full of the Holy Spirit (air) to use in the game of life (playing               with self or others)

Breathe = ability to pull in spiritual things [air] (Ps 39:5)

Breath = spiritual things (Ps 39:5), Holy Spirit (Is 40:7, Ezk 37:9-10, John 20:22)

Breathe under the water = ability to pull from the Holy Spirit while in his pastoral gifting

Enemy = devil (Mt 13:25-28, Lk 10:19, Acts 13:10); or those who oppose (Exo 15:9, 1Sam 24:19)

Stream = ministry; life filled with God (Ps 23:2, 65:9)

Body of water = Word of God (Neh 9:15, Ps 73:10, Is 55:1, John 4:10-15)

Stream bouncing from the body of water to her hand = ministry filled with God coming from the              Word of God into her works

Rewrite of dream with symbol meanings:
In the next dream, my son found himself with others who are immature in their giftings.  He said that none of these people knew how to use their spiritual giftings yet either.  My son kept trying to control his pastoral gift, but it kept slipping out during his works.  He then encounters a girl who is teaching my son how to use his pastoral gifting.  She first teaches him how to make a tool full of the Holy Spirit to use in his interaction with his pastoral gifting – showing him how to keep it pure and of God.  She then teaches him how to pull in spiritual things while doing his pastoral gifting.  My son finds himself at great peace there- loves it- finds himself without fear.  The two of them are then encountered by one who is not of God (an attack of a devil or an attack from one who is opposed to what he is doing.)  The girl is able to use the Word of God in her works (a ministry filled with God coming from the Word of God into her works) then reflected out to the enemy) to push back the enemy until he disappears.  My son tries, but his use of the Word of God in his works is tiny.  My son is then reminded of using the Holy Spirit to get the Word of God and he goes under for a while using the Holy Spirit to receive the Word of God.  When he comes up, he tries his gifting (his ability and control is better, but it is still not as strong as the girl’s).

To paraphrase this:  Your son, along with others, are learning how to apply the Word of God through the Holy Spirit in their spiritual giftings.  Your son gets better with time and practice. Someone (probably a girl/woman) will come along in his life and help guide him.

Fighting = dealing with issues of life (1Tim 1:18, 6:12, 2Tim 4:7)

Ring = place where adversaries are met face to face

Sword = words (Is 49:2, Ps 57:4, 59:7, 64:3, Prov 12:18)

Wooden sword = natural words of man (Dt 28:64, Jer 2:27, 5:14, 2Tim 2:20-21)

A kid from school who is cool, popular, good looking, with lots of friends = peers who “are looked up to by others”

Sword of metal = words of man molded to be strong and powerful (Jer 6:27); test of strength

Glowing green core = the core or foundation is pride/envy/jealousy & spreads destruction (Lev 13:49, 14:37)

Handle molten in the hand = manipulation – ability to use it is appropriate (handle molten) to the result or work (hand) he wants done

Father = Father God

Black = evil (Is 59:9, 2Pet 2:17)

My son is face to face dealing with issues of life and is using natural words of man in his battling. He is fighting opponents and is winning.  He wins against many, many opponents, but then fights peers who are looked up to by others. The kid has a different way of speaking.  Fashioned out of words of man molded to be strong and powerful.  But its foundation is pride/envy/jealousy and spreads destruction.  The kid uses it to manipulate others.  My son wanted the kid’s way of speaking.  He asked God for the ability to speak that way and God gave it to him.  When my son looked at it he saw evil lines coming off of it and knew instantly that it was evil and he told God “I cannot take it!”

To paraphrase the third dream:

While dealing with face-to-face conflict with peers, your son naturally does pretty well on his own and uses words in an effective way.  However, he did (or will) go through a phase where he might want (for his reasons) decides to mimic someone else’s manipulation tactics. This is someone who is looked up to by peers.  Your son will see it’s wrong and go back to God’s way of doing things.

J.O., to summarize all of this, I think you are raising an amazing 11 year-old boy.  He is going through the proper training of learning of his gifts and learning how to grow in favor with God and man.  He will make some mistakes, as we all do, but he will come through it well.

I know from what else was said in your email that he is “under attack” right now from the enemy.  I will, and I encourage all readers out there…..to pick this up and pray safety for him.  And, pray that any plans of the enemy be thwarted by our loving Father God.

God bless you and your son

Ironing Board outside Window

Dear Marsha,
Here is a dream I just had.  Can you tell me what you believe it might be saying?
Denise

Scene 1:  I was on the top floor of a building doing some ironing on an ironing board.  Outside the window there were two more ironing boards.  When I finished the one I was working on, a new one came through the window for me to use.

Scene 2:  I was with a group of people and I realized “who” the next leaders of the group were going to be.  This had not been announced and apparently it wasn’t time to announce them yet.  I made the mistake of introducing them as the next leaders.  “Oh no!” I said.  I was afraid I was going to be in trouble.  But, they were not upset with me.

Hi  Denise,  Marsha here!
The metaphoric symbols in this dream is good to know.

1. Top floor of building = level you have reached in your work or ministry   (the top level)  [You’re doing what you are called or supposed to be doing]

2. Doing some ironing = “ironing” out some issues…[resolving some wrinkles or problems – possibly of others]

3. Window = ability to see using revelation/ seeing beyond (Gen 7:11, 8:2, 26:8, 2Kgs 7:2, 7:19, Prov 7:6-23, Is 24:18)

4. Two = two, or division issues, more

So, in substituting the symbols into the dream it might say:

Scene 1:  I was doing what I’m called or supposed to be doing resolving some wrinkles or problems – possibly of others.  With an ability to see using revelation there were two/or problems relating to division/or even more resolving of problems  When I finished the one I was working on, a new one came through ability to see using revelation for me to use.

Denise:  What does this mean?  I would say:

Through revelatory (God-given revelation) you are able to resolve problems (probably of others).  As fast as you are doing it, more and more revelation is coming to you.

There is a situation in dealing with “others” when you mistakenly tell something you probably shouldn’t have, but it’s okay.  You are harder on yourself than others.

          I believe this is the Lord telling you “You are and will continue to receive revelation in your work.  Don’t be hard on yourself for any errors.   You are doing a good job!”     I may have added the “good job” part myself…but it follows the character and nature of our beloved God.

Buying a Wedding Veil

Marsha, Here is a dream I had on October 13th, 2015.  What do you think it means?  Jill

I was going to renew my wedding vows and wanted something for my head. For my original wedding I had worn flowers that my father had grown, but that wasn’t an option now. My sister and I went to a shop that sold all kinds of things.  I wore my wedding dress to get the full effect. (It had been my mother’s…40’s style with a sweetheart neckline and drop waist.) While my sister was getting a massage, I looked around in the next room. Because of the style of the dress, I tried on a couple of hats, but they didn’t seem right.

A sales lady suggested a veil and I latched on to that idea.  She showed me several bolts of lace, but the colors were off.  I wanted the veil to match the dress.  She ignored that request and immediately started making a veil from one of the darker shades of ivory lace and was trimming it with brown flowers.

When I realized what she was doing, I tried to stop her. “NO”, I said, “I didn’t have a veil before, I should get what I want. It should match the dress….and the flowers shouldn’t be brown!!!”

I call my sister into the room for reinforcement.  In the end, I don’t know if I got that veil or not.  I did apologize for yelling at the sales lady, though.

Hi Jill.  Marsha here!

Lots of people get wedding dreams.  They are often about “covenantal relationships” involved between the two people in the dream.  Remember it’s all symbolic.  Who is the bridegroom in the Bible?  Jesus!  Who is the bride?  The church…us!  So let’s look at this dream and see where it takes us.

Symbols:

Wedding vows: covenantal relationship

Head: authority (who has authority/or covering over you)

Flowers: blessings

That my father had grown:  God’s provision

Sister: sister in Christ, real sister, other family member

Massage: her flesh catered to

Couple of hats: authority over or covering over

Sales lady: someone trying to “sell” you on something

Veil: filtered; possibly filtered with legalism

Colors were “off”:  off-color or not right

Darker shades: things not of God

Brown:  worldly humanity issues/ compassion issues

Dress = religious system are in

Veil should match the dress:  filter should be clean (white/pure)

Yelling at the sales lady:  responding too strongly to someone trying to “sell”    you on something

Okay.  Now inputting these symbol-meanings into the dream, might look like this:

I was going to renew mycovenantal relationship and wanted to get proper authority or covering over me.  Originally, I was adorned in blessings from God, but (that wasn’t an option now) I now need to be actively taking a hand in this myself. My sister in Christ and I went to (a shop) where we can choose to receive different coverings to be under.  I (wore my wedding dress) was prepared to receive only what I am already committed to (the original covenantal relationship). (It had been my mother’s…40’s style with a sweetheart neckline and drop waist.) It came to me from my “source” or background. While my sister in Christ was getting (a massage) catered to in the flesh, I looked around in (the next room) a different area. Because of the (style of the dress) religious system I am in I tried on a couple of (hats) coverings, but they didn’t seem right.

(A sales lady[MD1] suggested a veil) someone suggested looking at things filtered and I latched on to that idea.  She showed me (several bolts of lace) several beautiful earthly things tied up in knots and twists, but (the colors were off) it was not right and off-color.  I wanted the (veil to match the dress) twists and filtered way of looking at things to match the covenantal relationship I am in.  She ignored that request and immediately started making a (veil from one of the darker shades of ivory lace) filtered way of viewing things that are lovely but Not of God and was trimming it with (brown flowers)blessings from humanism and compassion.

When I realized what she was doing, I tried to stop her. “NO”, I said, (“I didn’t have a veil before, I should get what I want. It should match the dress….and the flowers shouldn’t be brown!!!”) I want a way of viewing things that matches my covenantal relationship I’m already in and that are not worldly and just out of compassion, but are of God.

I call my sister in Christ into the room for reinforcement.  In the end, I don’t know if I got that veil or not.  I didapologize for (yelling at the sales lady), reacting inappropriately too strongly though.

Okay, what’s this about?

I’d say this dream might be showing that the dreamer is already a Christian (having gone through a wedding) but is trying to establish a strong spiritual covering over herself.  She is looking at things the church, or those claiming to be of the church, are offering her out there and their various bents on things.  Some of these teachings are being pushed on her but the dreamer realizes they are not of God, and in fact are just extending compassion and earthly actions.  She stops listening to it, probably a little too enthusiastically, and is a little repentant her strong objection may have been inappropriate.

This dream may be speaking of the dreamer’s good discernment in what the dreamer is hearing and responding to.  A little tweaking may need to be done in her responses though.

God is ever faithful!
